Hong Kong's oldest Western cemetery garden is located in Happy Valley.
This history and tour highlights the need for urgent action to conserve the built and natural heritage resources of this important cultural landscape. The author challenges the reader to reconsider the basic approach to heritage conservation adopted in Hong Kong where a false dichotomy persists between natural and built heritage conservation initiatives. Ken NicolsonKen Nicolson has been working as a landscape architect in Hong Kong since 1984. He is also an adjunct assistant professor to the Architecture Conservation Programme in the Faculty of Architecture, the University of Hong Kong.

面對國際投機客虎視眈眈，大陸正投入史無前例的資金對抗人民幣貶值壓力，根據《華爾街日報》報導，大陸當前資本外流規模之大前所未有，去年光是外匯存底就因此減少了7000億美元，這將讓大陸的經濟形勢更加複雜，隨著人民幣貶值，全球市場避險意識正在迅速升溫，在此情況下，大陸周邊的亞洲鄰國也將難逃資本外流的困境。
事實上，由於大陸擁有10兆美元的經濟規模，以及至今依然龐大的外匯存底，上述資本外流儘管存在風險，但短期內不會在大陸引發危機。
不過，根據世界銀行的資料顯示，除日本、瑞士及沙烏地阿拉伯以外，大陸所減少的7000億美元外匯存底比全球任何一家央行的外匯存底總量都要多，單從數量來看，儘管大陸資本外流規模居全球之首，但其他國家的資本外流占其經濟規模的比例卻明顯要高得更多。
分析人士指出，上述情況意味著，一旦人民幣繼續貶值，亞洲國家、乃至全球經濟將深受其害。尤其是在投資者避險意識升溫和美國聯準會緩步升息之際，新興市場遭遇資本外流的風險正在加劇。
《華爾街日報》指出，如果人民幣進一步走低，就將削弱其亞洲鄰國經濟的競爭力，這可能導致更多資本逃離新興市場，而試圖避免本幣貶值的國家，其外匯存底也將進一步被消耗。一旦新興市場出現本幣大幅貶值，通貨膨脹、投資放緩和增長勢頭減弱的困境將隨之而來。
美國洗錢監控機構全球金融誠信組織（Global Financial Integrity）首席經濟學家卡爾（Dev Kar）說，資本外流受投資者的緊張情緒和缺乏信心驅使；目前大陸的資本外流顯示出投資者對政府經濟運行能力失去信心，以目前情況看，這是大陸在面對資本外流時的最大問題。
另外，大陸面臨的另一風險是現金短缺。由於現金收緊將加大負債累累的公司和地方政府貸款展期的難度。高盛集團的亞太首席經濟學家蒂爾頓（Andrew Tilton）說，現金短缺是造成經濟嚴重衰退的最大風險源之一。
